New research has found that security businesses in England and Wales are slightly more likely than other industries to report skills gaps among their workforce. In response, the Government, industry leaders, and academic institutions are working together to bridge these gaps by developing new opportunities for skill-building and career development within the sector.
A key initiative in this effort is the launch of the Security Sector Skills Brochure, delivered by the Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC). Designed for young individuals aged 14-24, the brochure highlights career pathways and educational opportunities across the UK, aiming to position the security industry as an attractive career choice for the next generation.

JSaRC has collaborated with leading industry partners to produce this resource, ensuring a comprehensive overview of career prospects and training options within the sector. Partners involved in the project include:
CCL Solutions Ltd
The Security Institute
Security Industry Authority (SIA)
British Security Industry Association (BSIA)
Skills for Security
RISC
The Security Skills Board
By showcasing the breadth of opportunities available, JSaRC hopes to inspire more young people to consider careers in security, addressing the sector's workforce challenges and strengthening the UK's security capabilities for the future.
